June 2nd is the 42nd annual Run the Rockies Road Races.
There are two options: the 10K or the half marathon, both which run along the 10 mile range-an absolutely beautiful course!
Afterwards make sure to stop by Frisco’s Rock the Dock summer kickoff party from 11am-3pm at the Frisco Marina. There will be live music and food and drink specials at the Island Grill.
June 9th is a non-stop day of Frisco Marina fun!
Start at 8am at the Frisco Rowing Center for a free breakfast and intro to rowing course.
From 9am-5pm head over to the Frisco Marina where they will be holding a boat swap. This event is open to anyone and everyone in the boat market. You can bring your own boat and buy, sell, trade or swap.
Take a break between 11am-2pm and learn about how to kayak, canoe and use the SUP (Stand Up Paddleboards) with free 20 minute instructions.
One of Frisco’s most exciting events is their annual Colorado BBQ Challenge. Back for their 25th year, the official kickoff concert takes place June 14th from 8pm-9:30pm.
Then get your taste buds ready for an incredible weekend! June 15th-16th Frisco’s Main Street will be packed full of more than 70 BBQers, 7 bands, pig races, kid activities, the 4th annual Firefighter Cook Off, food sampling and the Breckenridge Distillery whisky tour.
On the flip side, if you’re feeling like you might want to earn your bacon, then take place in the Bacon Burner! This 6k race begins at 9:30am on June 16th. It’s a 3.8 mile out and back trail and open to everyone.
You don’t want to miss the 11th annual Timberline Cruiser Regatta on June 23rd at 9am. It’s a sailboat race on Lake Dillon where costumes and creativity is highly advised.
Want to get the kids into trail running? Check out this Mountain Goat Kids Trail Running series that’s held at the Frisco Adventure Park and takes place on June 26, July 10, July 24 and Aug 7. It’s a night of fun for the whole family. A slice of pizza is handed to every kid that crosses the finish line, and there are plenty of other activities like corn hole, bike, skate, disc golf and more!
The biggest holiday of the summer, July 4th, is a full day of celebration. Start the day off with a pancake breakfast from 7am-11am. The rest of the day is packed with events like kids fishing, concerts, a parade, fireworks and more!
Voted the “Best Triathlon” in Elevation Outdoor Magazine’s readers poll, 2016 Best of the Rockies, the Frisco Triathlon is a one of a kind. The race begins at 9am at the Frisco Bay Marina. Racers will begin on SUP (Stand up Paddleboards) for 3k, then switch to their mountain bikes for a 12k of inland single tracks, and end with a 5k run around the Frisco Peninsula. Spectators are encouraged!
Are you a fan of animals or have your own pets? Mark your calendars for Aug 4th, when the 27th annual League for Animals and People of the Summit (L.A.P.S.) holds a 4k race for dogs, some fun competitions, a silent auction and live music. This charity helps reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs.
Gear up for the highest and most scenic regatta around! This race is open to any age and ability to race any type of watercraft that doesn’t have a motor. At 7am on August 5th, the 10th annual Dillon Challenge is a summer event that will start your Sunday off on the right foot.
The 12th annual Main Street of the Rockies Art Festival takes place August 11th-12th on Frisco’s Main Street from 10am-5pm. There will be more than 80 participants with sculptures, paintings, photography, jewelry, ceramics and more!
Run the Rockies trail races begin at 8am on August 11th at the Frisco Day Lodge. The two options for running around the Frisco Peninsula are a 10k and ½ marathon. This is a great event for those who like to run on dirt trails, and be surrounded by gorgeous views!
If laying on a beach is more your style, then head over to the 8th Annual Frisco Bay Marina Kid’s Sandcastle Competition! An exciting event where kids build their own sandcastles and then have some surprise judges help select the winners.
The Frisco Free Family Fun Fair hosted by Kaiser Permanente takes place on August 18th between 10am and 3pm at the Frisco Adventure Park. There will be a climbing wall, bungee jumper, bouncy castle, balloon animals, face painting and more! For children ages 1-5, there will be a Strider for Life bike races which benefits the Flight for Life Memorial Park.
As we head into fall, make note of the Frisco Fall Fest held on September 8th from 11am-5pm. There will be a beer garden and many dishes available from the local Frisco restaurants. There will be art lining the streets and live music as well!
